What is the difference between porcelain and ceramic tiles?
Porcelain tiles are much denser than ceramic tiles, giving a lower water absorption and
better abrasion resistance. They are best suited to medium to heavy foot traffic areas and
are usually more expensive than ceramic tiles. Porcelain tiles may be glazed or unglazed.
Wall tiles are often ceramic as it is lighter than porcelain and therefore easier to install.
Ceramic tiles are always glazed. Some of the better quality ones are suitable to use outside
in light frost areas.
