Lining Up Grout Joints
If you want to line up grout joints for two types of tile, you need these to be an exact size. Always measure your tile. There is always size variation across different tiles. Tiles that are labelled 600mm doesn’t mean it will actually measure this. Working with floor and wall tiles from the same factory will work better if you want the lines to all run together.
Grout Joints
Plan your grout, this is often left to the tiler or forgotten. The right grout colour can make or break the overall look of your installed tiles. Keep your grout joints down to an absolute minimum the smallest spacer available is 1.5mm.
Slip resistance
Check the slip resistance of your floor tile especially when installing into a wet area.
Substrates
Consider that a larger tile will require a flatter surface for installation.
Edging your tiles
Consider the options, many tiles can be mitred to avoid using aluminium trims on external corners. If you must use a trim ask to see the options, you can also have these trims powder coated to match the colour of your tile.
Perception
The smaller the tile the busier/smaller the area will look, the bigger the tile the bigger the area will look, fewer lines.
